CalARVC has cultivated a good relationship and reputation with legislators at the California State Capitol. CalARVC contracts with legislative advocates in Sacramento, paid for with membership dues. The firm of Edelstein, Gilbert, Robson & Smith has a tremendous reputation, and along with CalARVC, represents many other prestigious clients. They forward copies of bills that would affect CalARVC members. The Governance Committee and Executive Director review each bill and strategize with Edelstein, Gilbert, Robson & Smith as to the best course of action. In this manner CalARVC is able to lend its voice in order to reduce any negative impact on its members.

In addition to monitoring bills, CalARVC assists members with local problems by letter and telephone. CalARVC also maintains contact with key government agencies including the Dept. of Housing and Community Development to help members comply with laws and regulations affecting the industry.

CalARVC members also participate in grass roots lobbying. CalARVC sends the "Leg-Alert" requesting action by members ... letters, phone calls and donations when specific issues require urgent action.

REC PAC

Parks are encouraged to contribute to the fund and/or join the REC PAC Platinum Club, which honors members who understand the vital impact campaign contributions have in Sacramento.
